Information in reference to Covid-19

Due to the current situation of the outbreak of the Coronavirus COVID-19 Port of Helsingborg would like to advise the following information.


International Health Regulations

Port of Helsingborgs is an appointed Emergency and Quarantine port.
In case of suspected infection or disease onboard – certain routines of how to proceed is a
hand.
The instructions can be found below in paragraph 1. They are valid at all times, but a
reminder for customers, masters, and agents is called for in times like these.
The instructions have been updated with Specific and General information on COVID-19
applying for the port of Helsingborg. See paragraphs 2 and 3.

Alerting procedure Port of Helsingborg

Instruction in case of suspected infection/disease onboard
Anyone aware or suspecting a threat to people´s health is on board a vessel including
infected or diseased persons are to report according to below.


1. Obligation to alert

  • The one who has information that a vessel calling the port of Helsingborg has contagious or hazardous substances that may threaten people´s health or have known or suspected disease onboard (normally Master or Agent) are responsible for reporting to Harbour Master´s office without delay.
  • Harbour Master´s Office: Helsingborg Port Control: 24 hrs Phone: +46 42 10 63 22; hpc@port.helsingborg.se, VHF ch 11.
  • Report to include: Name of Ship, IMO number, Owner, ETA, Berth, Number of persons onboard, symptoms, and any relevant other information.
  • Helsingborg Port Control – will relay alert to appointed authorities.
  • Infectious disease physician´s office will make a medical assessment and advice further action and/or measures.


2. Specific instruction regarding Covid-19

  • If COVID-19 suspected onboard – Helsingborgs Port Control (HPC) is to be informed. Alert will be relayed by HPC.
  • Infectious Disease physician´s Office will advise further actions and measures.
  • Awaiting that advice – the vessel is to take necessary precautions ie to isolate diseased persons and other relevant actions according to Master´s advice.
  • Shore Leave for the crew is not allowed. Visitors are to be informed. Relevant measures to ensure visitor´s safety are to be taken by the Master.
  • If medical attendance needed please contact national emergency numbers1177 or 112 Suspicion of Covid-19 are to be advised.


3. General instruction regarding Covid-19

  • Vessels and crews are recommended to be careful according to current Public Health Agency (Folkhälsomyndigheten) guidelines. For updated guidelines please ensure information is known or provided.
  • If symptoms of the disease – ensure relevant actions are taken onboard / isolate and care for the person.
  • Dockworkers are informed to stay home in case of symptoms.
  • Proper hygiene and carefulness are recommended at all times.
  • Be careful at physical meetings.
  • Shore leave for the crew is allowed. However, walking in terminal areas is prohibited.
  • Port of Helsingborg will for the time being not assist in taking the crew from/to gate.
  • Arrange for a taxi or other means of transport.
