New container terminal in Helsingborg

The news shared today writes history in our port and the development for future operations is taking a giant leap. The new container terminal’s chosen geographical location means that the construction can parallel with the operational activities that are kept intact.

Construction can begin already in 2026 and is expected to be commissioned in 2028. Initially, three various positions for the new terminal have been investigated, where the southern and selected proposal has in full entailed the most benefits. For the port and our customers, the alternative involves the potential of development for 40 years where our jointed business can grow long term and the terminal handle increased container volumes of 2-4 percent annual growth.

The new berth will be almost a full 1 km long and make room for three deep-sea 225-meter vessels simultaneously. A new electric handling system will be used to respond to increased volumes and enable Port of Helsingborg to become completely fossil-free and electrified. A new combined terminal will connect southern Sweden’s logistics clusters between sea and rail in an efficient and sustainable way.

We have just started the journey and are delighted to, at this early stage, already share this with you. Please do not hesitate to contact us with questions or concerns since we depend on and highly appreciate your input during this entire process.
