Helsingborg and its surrounding region are Sweden’s most important logistics hub

After two years in second place, Helsingborg and its surrounding region came in first place when industry magazine Intelligent Logistics presented its annual list of Sweden’s best logistics locations in 2022.

The list, which consists of 25 locations around Sweden, examines criteria such as infrastructure, logistic flows, land development opportunities, logistics stock and establishment, as well as soft values such as competence and regional business cooperation and environment. A tally of all areas contributes to a final rating and placement on the list.

Regional growth

As Sweden’s food logistic hub with its proximity to one of the busiest straits in the world and Europe, the region has a strong position in the market and is actively investing in land development for logistical growth. In 2022, an additional 109,000 sq m of land is planned for development to the logistics sector in the region, which is 5.3 percent of the country’s total new land developments within logistics this year.

– We have worked strategically and long-term to develop the logistics region of Helsingborg together with the local business community and The Port of Helsingborg. Investing in the supply chain create jobs in the region, both so-called entry-level jobs, but also professional career opportunities. This is a signal to companies who are considering establishing their business in our region or Sweden, says Peter Danielsson, Chairman of the Municipal Board to the local newspaper Helsingborgs Dagblad.

Focused and sustainable investments

The Port of Helsingborg is Sweden’s second-largest container port and largest in the refrigerated containers segment, which contributes to the region’s strong position in fresh produce. Every year, the Port of Helsingborg handles approximately 8.2 million tons of goods and 90 percent of Sweden’s food supply passes through the Helsingborg region.

The Helsingborg Regions strong position as Sweden’s most attractive logistics location shows that The Port’s investment in increased capacity and a new container terminal ready in 2028 are accurate, says Bart Steijaert CEO Port of Helsingborg.

The development plans for the new container terminal in Helsingborg ensure the capability to manage increased volumes in The Region and supports the business community with continued development and growth.
