Our service offering for container shipping lines

Port of Helsingborg has clarified and developed its service offering for container traffic. The aim is to create greater predictability in vessel calls, clearer expectations and increased transparency in how operations are planned and executed.

Efficient port operations rely on close coordination between planning, information sharing and execution. By describing its service offering in a more structured way, Port of Helsingborg aims to strengthen collaboration with customers and create better conditions for each individual port call.

A clearer structure for how we work

Port of Helsingborg’s service offering is based on a clear framework consisting of three elements: Standard, FLEX and FAST. Together, they provide a shared language for planning, dialogue and execution.

Standard

Standard is the foundation of our service offering.

All container calls are handled through a secure, sustainable and efficient standard service.

Productivity is communicated as an indicative range and depends on:

  • vessel type and size
  • cargo mix
  • planning conditions
  • quality and timeliness of information sharing

Each call is assessed individually based on its specific conditions.

What this means in practice

Standard provides a predictable baseline. The better the planning conditions, the more stable and efficient the execution.

FLEX

FLEX is about structured handling of changes.

FLEX applies when conditions change shortly before or during a port call, for example due to late adjustments in volumes or information.

The approach is to handle such changes in a way that is:

  • transparent
  • based on clear working methods
  • ensuring controlled execution

Port of Helsingborg aims to accommodate occasional late changes through dialogue with the customer, within the framework of our working methods and operational conditions.

FAST

FAST is used when time or capacity is critical.

FAST involves planned operational setups designed to increase productivity or reduce time at berth, for example when a vessel needs to depart at a specific time to meet its onward schedule.

Solutions are developed based on:

  • available resources
  • current port utilisation
  • operational conditions

Each setup is assessed and confirmed in advance, based on available resources and the port’s overall commitments.

What this means for customers

  • The clarified service offering provides:
  • clearer expectations for each port call
  • increased predictability in planning and execution
  • improved alignment on what drives performance
  • a clear structure for dialogue and decision-making between the shipping line and the port in each situation

The objective is to establish a shared structure that simplifies planning, prioritisation and delivery.

Dialogue is key

Service levels and operational setups are agreed through dialogue, based on planning conditions and the port’s operational capacity.

To achieve the best possible outcome, customers are encouraged to:

  • share information in good time
  • maintain close dialogue with the port
  • clearly communicate priorities for each call
